Open to the public for adoptions on Saturdays & Sunday's from 11 - 4 (Weekdays by Appointment.) Basset hound education, youth volunteer programs, adoption and belly rubbing opportunities abound. We have over 100 basset hounds for adoption awaiting forever families who reside here at Daphneyland. Our community outreach programs focus on assisting today's youth in the goal of animal education, spay and neuter awareness, pet ownership and awareness responsibility, and other items important to pet lovers.

First of all – don’t panic!! Remember, we’re here just a phone call away if you feel that something isn’t going well, or have any questions whatsoever – there are no stupid questions, pick up the phone and call!

Hounds and Humans gather for a great day at Daphneyland the Basset Rescue Ranch in Acton California and raise funds for Basset Rescue Network thru all sorts of activities!
Raffle and Silent Auction
Games which include Treat Tossing, The Chow Hound Contest, The Fun Agility, Obedience and debuting this year: Counter Cruising!
Cowboy Cowgirl Costume Contest is also planned!
Entry is free for all hound owners, hound lovers and bellyrubbers in general, entry fee for games and contests help us raise much needed funds to care for the over 70 basset hounds available thru BaRNI for Adoption!

Every week new hounds arrive requiring our assistance. As an adoption occurs, a new hound takes their place - this is what your donations assist with - the rescue, vet care, rehabilitation and socialization needed to find a homeless hound a new home.

The call came in the last week of March - a basset in a shelter in serious need of rescue.
For those who may be unfamiliar with shelter and rescue terms, this particular hound had been found as a stray and has in his young life, experienced many traumas. An owner never came forward, and thus this hound, due to his condition - and at one year of age, was only available to a qualified rescue group, and if none were willing to take him, he faced euthanasia.
Before you see his photo, we are warning you - this photo was taken AFTER extensive vet care, but is still very graphic.
A shaved head shows past scarring and trauma, most likely endured repeatedly throughout his life.
The ear has been shredded. I can personally attest that when our wonderful vet Dr. Kim saw him, he literally did not know what to say. Could this have been a companion dog who kept attacking a young pup? Perhaps - but the tears and the trauma indicate much more than that. We shall never know.
Your continued support allows us to work with these angels - this hound, as upsetting as this photo may be to see - has the sweetest disposition and loving nature - he is but a pup. A long course of vet care and eventually plastic surgery to trim and straighten the ear - during which time he will need loving support, good quality food and lots of fresh air, exercise and bellyrubs. Special baths and topical treatments including food supplements to assist in hair regrowth will turn this baby into a stunning young handome man - with lopsided ears. He WILL find a home. This would not be possible without our friends, family, vets, supporters and donators. Every dollar helps. Please help us help the hounds.
